The Health Protection Agency (HPA) has said the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine booster shot will commence on October 3, Monday.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said that the Technical Advisory Group has advised for a third dose of the vaccine to be given to those at higher risk of developing serious illness if they contract COVID-19. This includes frontline health workers, those above the age of 60 and immunocompromised individuals. HPA said they will be given an extra dose of the Pfizer vaccine if six months have passed since they received the second dose of any COVID-19 vaccine.
The third dose will be administered to those eligible between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm from ADK Hospital and Hulhumale Hospital. Vaccine will be administered from Villimale' Hospital from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Vaccine will be administered on appointment basis.
