Maldives Reform Movement (MRM) has elected members for senior posts of the party in its National Congress.
At their 'National Convention' held Saturday, members were elected to 12 senior positions of the party. Some members won their seats without a vote as they ran uncontested.
The Party's founder and leader, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom's son, Faris Maumoon, who was the sole contender for the post, became the party's President without a vote. Additionally, Aminath Nadira, who ran for the Vice President slot designated for women, won the post uncontested.
Shimaz Ali and Shazail Shiyam ran for the remaining deputy president slot. After a close race, the seat was secured by Shazail. The Women's Council presidency was won by Arifa Rasheed while Ibrahim Farhad was elected as the President of the Youth Council.
20 members were elected to the party's Executive Committee. A president, a deputy president and 30 members were elected to the party's Youth Council, as well as a president, deputy president and 20 members to the Women's Council. Five members were elected to the party's Elections Committee, Disciplinary Committee and Appeals Committee.
