The Criminal Court has ordered the release of two suspects who were arrested on Wednesday with over 100 kg of drugs.
Ten people aged between 19 and 61 were arrested in the police operation being conducted since Wednesday. Two foreigners are also among the arrested. The police searched different locations in Male' and Hulhumale' as well as some uninhabited islands during the operation. The drugs were discovered in an uninhabited island during the search.
The police said the ten suspects were taken to Criminal Court on Thursday night to decide on their remand. Out of the ten, the court released two individuals, the police said. No further details were shared.
AVAS has learnt that the two people who were released were the main suspects arrested in the operation. The Criminal Court decision is being appealed at the High Court.
Out of the remaining eight people, the court ordered four individuals to be remanded in custody for 15 days, three for 10 days, and one for five days.
