The Parliament has approved the Auditor General's Offices' budget for the upcoming year.
The budget of MVR 90.3 million was approved by the Parliament in its sitting held Wednesday. The budget was approved with 49 members voting in its favor. No members voted against it.
The Audit Office initially requested for a budget of MVR 118.7 million. However, after discussion with the Finance Ministry and the Parliament, the figure was revised to MVR 90.3 million. The Parliament's Public Finance Committee approved the budget prior to sending the budget to the Parliament for voting. In the proposed budget, the Auditor General's Office asked for MVR 60.3 million for operational and administrative costs, while an additional MVR 30 million was requested for PSIP projects conducted by the office.
The Audit Offices' budget for this year is MVR 81 million.
