India to assist in capacity-building for good governance

The Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Mr Girish Chandra Murmu has said India would assist the Maldives in the area of good governance, health and education. He made the statement during a meeting with Vice President of the Maldives, Faisal Naseem on Monday.

During the meeting held at the President's Office, the Vice President applauded India's Comptroller and Auditor General for the collaboration and support provided to the relevant authorities to improve their services by using his specialist experience. Vice President Faisal Naseem also expressed gratitude to the Indian government for the assistance and contribution to the Maldives government's development priorities.

The Indian Comptroller and Auditor General indicated the willingness to assist the Maldives' authorities in capacity-building in the areas of good governance, health and education. He also expressed eagerness to collaborate in different areas to conduct audits, such as environment and Information Technology, stressing the significance of efficiently utilising limited resources.

In addition, the Vice President and Indian Comptroller and Auditor General highlighted some MOUs signed between the both governments. They also discussed ways to deepen the inherent relationship and the close ties between the two countries.
