The High Commissioner of the Republic of India to the Republic of Maldives, Munu Mahawar, paid a courtesy call on Vice President Faisal Naseem Sunday afternoon at the President'sPresident's Office.
The vice president congratulated the High Commissioner upon his appointment to the post and welcomed him to the Maldives during the call. They conversed about the close relations between both countries, discussing further avenues to enhance bilateral ties for the mutual benefit of the Maldives and India.
At the meeting, the Vice President expressed his gratitude to the Indian government for their support and assistance on High Impact Community Development Projects in the Maldives and their generous support and assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic. He also highlighted the important role played by the Indian government to the Maldives in preventing maritime cross-border drug trafficking.
The vice president and the High Commissioner further discussed the challenges faced by the health sector of the Maldives. The Vice President also thanked the High Commissioner for the assistance provided by the Indian government for the socio-economic development of the Maldives.
Concluding the call, both the Vice President and the High Commissioner expressed their confidence in furthering the strong bond between the two countries.
