The entire janitorial staff at Galolhu Madharusa Preschool have been suspended. The suspension comes amid a sexual abuse case of a preschooler by a female member of the school's support staff.
A statement issued by the school on Saturday said the entire janitorial staff had been suspended amid investigation of the incident. The statement further said all students would be accompanied to the toilet by the class teacher henceforth. Parents may request the teacher to help the student if any student requires help cleaning up after using the bathroom, the statement further said.
The statement also said the school had installed CCTV cameras in different areas of the school to ensure the safety of students.
The police are investigating a sexual abuse case reported on October 19. A female support staff abused the four-year-old student while she assisted the student in using the toilet. The child suffered significant physical injuries due to the abuse and was treated at ADK Hospital.
