MSS's first vessel arrives in the Maldives

Maldives State Shipping (MSS)'s first vessel has arrived in the Maldives.

The vessel, which can carry 680 containers, arrived in the Maldives on Saturday. Although the vessel has been brought to the Maldives, it will set sail to neighboring Sri Lanka very soon for branding purposes. Upon the completion of the branding process, voyages will commence between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.

MSS said 99 percent of the crew working on the vessel would be Maldivians. MSS is currently seeking staff for positions on the boat, offering attractive remunerations.

MSS first began charter line services in the Maldives. The first vessel in the charter operation arrived in the Maldives on April 5, carrying perishables such as onion, potato and egg, and medicines. MSS has now expanded its services to transport containers for the world's largest container company, Mask.

Maldives State Shipping was established with the State Trading Organization (STO) holding 99 percent of shares of the organization and Fuel Supplies Maldives (FSM) holding the remaining share.
