President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have arrived back in the Maldives after concluding their two-day official trip to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
On this trip, President Solih officiated the opening ceremony of the "Mahinda Rajapaksa Trophy 2021" football tournament. The Maldives and Sri Lanka played against each other in the opening match of the tournament, participated by national football teams from the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Seychelles.
President Solih attended the official luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa and conversed with him on topics of mutual interest. The President also met with the President of Sri Lanka, Gotabaya Rajapaksa, and held an extensive discussion on a wide array of subjects of mutual interest and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening Maldives-Sri Lanka cooperation in the coming years.
A high-level Maldivian delegation accompanied the President and First Lady on this trip.
