Minor facing murder charges transferred to home arrest

A minor arrested in relation to the murder of a 13-year-old boy last June has been transferred to home arrest.

The police made two arrests in connection to the murder, one being a 17-year-old boy who now faces murder charges.

The Juvenile Court Tuesday ordered the minor to be transferred to home arrest. The decision was made in light of the Human Rights Commission deeming his place of detention as unfit to detain children.

The court set conditions to his transfer, including attending programs conducted by the Department of Juvenile Justice. The court also prohibited him from leaving the premises, using communication devices, allowing outsiders to enter the home where he is detained, and contacting any persons related to the case.

The Juvenile Court made a similar decision last week, transferring home a minor who was arrested in relation to the death of a 17-year-old who died in a gang fight.
