COVID-19: Over 5,000 individuals receive booster shot

Over 5,000 individuals have received the third, booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Official statistics released by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show 395,195 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine thus far. 361,391 people have received both shots of the vaccine.

HPA began administering a third shot as a booster shot on October 4. One dose of the Pfizer vaccine is given to build immunity against COVID-19 further. The extra shot is given to those above the age of 60, those who are immunocompromised, and front-line healthcare professionals. Until now, 5,390 people have received the booster shot.

Those eligible to receive the third dose are instructed to get their shots from ADK Hospital, and Hulhumale Hospital between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm and from Villimale' Hospital between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm on all days of the week. Appointments are not required to get the vaccine from ADK and Hulhumale' Hospital.
