Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be traveling to the Maldives on a state visit from December 22. The visit is being undertaken at the invitation of the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, extended during his State Visit to Bangladesh in March 2021.
The Prime Minister will attend to official duties from December 22 to 23. During her visit, she will be meeting with President Solih for official discussions. The President's Office said several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) would be signed between Maldives and Bangladesh.
Fisheries, human resources, and education are among the key areas the two countries enjoy close cooperation in. The numerous high-level exchanges between the two countries would deepen existing ties and further strengthen bilateral relations.
The Maldives and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations on September 22, 1978.
