Bangladeshi High Commissioner pays farewell call to Pres Solih

High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Rear Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan, has paid his farewell call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The meeting was held on Tuesday morning at the President’s ‎Office.

At the meeting, President Solih expressed his admiration of the High Commissioner’s contribution to reinforcing existing bilateral relations during his tenure and went on to discuss future areas of cooperation between the two countries. The President also expressed his gratitude for Bangladesh's assistance in critical areas of mutual interest, such as human resource development, higher education, healthcare, and economic cooperation.

Speaking with the President, the High Commissioner thanked him for the assistance provided to Bangladeshi nationals working and residing in the Maldives throughout the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. He also expressed gratitude to the Maldivian government for the generous donation of 201,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the people of Bangladesh.

President Solih and the High Commissioner also recalled the high-level, successful visits by heads of state and government of both countries, which further solidified the relationship between the two. The Maldives and Bangladesh established diplomatic relations on September 22, 1978.
