Statistics have shown the highest recurrent expenditure this year was recorded in October.
According to the statistics released by the National Bureau of Statistics, in October, the state spent MVR 2.3 billion on recurrent expenditure. While MVR 1.4 billion was spent for capital expenditure, the total expenditure for the month was over MVR 4 billion, including other spending.
A large amount was also spent in August for recurrent expenditure. In that month, the state spent MVR 2 billion for the purpose.
Last year, the highest recurrent expenditure was recorded in December, spending MVR two billion.
Although the state's expenditure has vastly increased, the revenue has also increased significantly due to the tourism sector flourishing at this time. The revenue is expected to increase further during the current peak tourism season.
