Over 300 private jets have landed at Maldives' main international airport, Velana International Airport, thus far this month.
VIA's operator, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), said while over 300 private jets landed at the airport between December 1 and 29, 35 jets landed at VIA on Tuesday and Wednesday. Most flights were carrying tourists visiting the Maldives for the New Year.
The number of private jets that land at VIA increases every year to coincide with the tourism peak season. Many wealthy tourists choose the Maldives as their destination for their holiday.
The Maldives has welcomed over 1.3 million tourists this year.
