Additional sample collection centers to test for COVID-19 have been established in Thaajuddin School and FAM Building in capital Male'.
The Health Protection Agency said the sample collection center based at the Social Center had been moved to Thaajuddin School. Testing services will be available from the school from 3:00 pm on Monday onwards, HPA said.
HPA said Thaajuddin School sample center would be open from Saturday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and from 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm. The center will be open on Fridays from 03:00 pm to 06:00 pm.
In the new sample collection center established in FAM Building, samples will be collected between 02:00 pm and 06:-00 pm every day.
HPA opened additional sample collection centers due to a rise in positive cases following the detection of the Omicron variant in the Maldives. While a PCR negative test result is now required to travel from Male' to the atolls, the number of people seeking testing services has increased, with large queues outside testing facilities.
