The Health Protection Agency (HPA) will begin administering a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to the general public on Saturday.
HPA said those above 18-years old who have received two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are eligible to receive the booster shot. Appointment slots can be booked online.
To simultaneously vaccinate as many people as possible, HPA is seeking to hire more staff to increase capacity.
The government previously hoped to begin administering the booster shot last month. However, the plans had to be pushed back due to delays in receiving the vaccines and syringes.
The Maldives has received 100,620 doses of the Pfizer vaccine through the COVAX facility. While booster vaccination for high-risk individuals has been ongoing, 28,085 people have received the shot to date.
