The Maldives on Friday recorded 1,697 new cases of COVID-19.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 7,263 samples were tested over the past 24 hours, out of which 1,697 samples came back positive. Out of these, 677 cases were recorded in the Greater Male' Region and 680 in the atolls. An additional 60 cases were recorded in local resorts.
While 3,269 samples were tested in the Greater Male' Region, the positivity rate at this time is 21 percent. At this time, 11,535 cases are active, and the tally is at 100,811. Fourty nine patients are admitted to to facilities.
The Maldives has recorded 269 COVID-19 deaths to date. Four deaths were recorded on Thursday.
