Gov't discussing restrictions for those who do not get booster shot

The government has said they are discussing restrictions for those who do not get vaccinated with a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Those who have received the two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine must undergo a PCR test if traveling from an island with a positivity rate higher than five percent. Those who are unvaccinated have to quarantine themselves upon arrival at their destination.

A senior official from the President's Office said although booster shots have been facilitated for the public, the number of people getting the shot is comparatively less. Therefore, he said that the government is considering withdrawing the leniencies extended fully vaccinated individuals if they do not get the booster shot.

'If people do not get the additional dose, an unvaccinated population is formed once again. Therefore, if an individual qualifies to receive the booster dose and does not get it, we are discussing imposing restrictions,' he said.

If vaccinated individuals test positive, they will be released after a 7-day quarantine if they do not exhibit any symptoms of the disease. Those who are unvaccinated have to complete a 14-day quarantine if they are a direct contact of a positive case. However, those who are fully vaccinated will be released after ten days if they are direct contacts.

Everyone over the age of 18 can receive the booster shot if six months have passed since they received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
