Gov't seek contractors to build hospitals in three islands

The Finance Ministry is seeking parties to construct hospitals in three islands under the contractor finance basis.

The government announced last March that the health centers in 12 islands would be upgraded as modern state-of-the-art hospitals. The islands are Ha. Ihavandhoo, N. Kendhikulhudhoo, Lh. Hinnavaru, Ha. Hoarafushi, HDh. Hanimaadhoo, Sh. Milandhoo, N. Velidhoo, B. Thulhaadhoo, F. Nilandhoo, Th. Vilifushi, ADh. Maamigili, and GDh. Gadhdhoo.

In this regard, the ministry on Wednesday made an announcement to construct hospitals in Ha. Ihavandhoo, N. Kendhikulhudhoo, and Lh. Hinnavaru.

Local companies can participate in the bid if they are registered in the Planning Ministry as per the regulations for contractors under specific grades. If a foreign company is participating in the bid, they do not have to get registered with the Planning Ministry. However, the contractor must submit the documents specified in the Foreign Direct Policy and contractor regulations when submitting their bid.

A non-refundable MVR 1,500 will have to be paid as a registration fee to participate in the bid. A bid security of MVR 690,000 or its equivalent in USD must be paid.

The Finance Ministry said bid documents would be available in soft copy format from the ministry's website from January 30, and all information regarding the bid will be published on the website. If further clarification is needed, interested parties may contact the ministry via email before February 14.

Parties that meet the requirements to participate in the bid will be decided using the International Competetive Bidding (ICB) policy.

The bids will be opened on February 28 at 1:00 pm at the Finance Ministry.
