By-election: COVID-19 positive voters allotted an hour to cast vote

The Elections Commission Tuesday issued guidelines regarding COVID-19 positive voters for the Sh. Komandoo by-election.

The Komandoo by-election, as well as the Women's Development Committee by-election for Th. Vilufushi and Ga. Femanafushi have been scheduled for February 5. While a high number of COVID-19 cases are being recorded in the Maldives at this time, the Elections Commission has set specific hours for COVID-19 positive voters to vote in the election.

In this regard, COVID-19 positive voters and those in quarantine can vote between 3 and 6 pm on election day. The Elections Commission said voters must adhere to the Health Protection Agency (HPA) guidelines in attending and voting at the vote centers.

The Elections Commission made similar arrangements for the Local Council Elections held last year.

3,309 individuals from Sh. Komandoo, Foakaidhoo, and Maroshi are eligible to vote in the Komandoo by-election.
