National airline Maldivian has opened a sales office in Bangladesh.
The sales office was opened in a ceremony held last Saturday in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The office was officially opened by the Maldivian ambassador to Bangladesh, Shiruzimath Sameer.
Maldivian operates weekly scheduled flights to Bangladesh on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Fridays. A one-way ticket's airfare is USD 225, while a round trip costs USD 406.
The majority of foreign workers in the Maldives are from Bangladesh, and Bangladesh is, therefore, an important country for the Maldives. When the Maldives' border was reopened after closure in 2020, the first country to which Maldivian resumed flights was Bangladesh.
