Maldivian temporarily suspends flights to Bangladesh amid unrest

The Maldives national airline, Maldivian, has temporarily suspended flights to Bangladesh.

The airline announced the cancellation of today's flight from the Maldives to Dhaka, Bangladesh, citing the ongoing situation in Bangladesh. Maldivian stated that it is closely monitoring the developments and will continue to provide necessary assistance to passengers. The airline emphasized that passenger safety remains its top priority.

Unrest erupted in Bangladesh in early July after students accused the government of discrimination in employing civil servants and giving undue advantages to some. The protests escalated, with demonstrators calling for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation. Under pressure from the public, the Prime Minister resigned on Monday and has fled Bangladesh.
