Membership forms submitted as per regulations: AP

Adhaalath Party has said the party submits membership forms to Elections Commission according to the Political Parties Act and regulations. Their statement comes amid claims by a family that they were registered to the Adhaalath Party without their knowledge while already registered to the Progressive Party of the Maldives (PPM).

The family that made the claim took up the issue with PPM, and the party has said they would take the matter to court.

Regarding the issue, Adhaalath Party asserted that they submit membership forms of people who wish to register to the party to the Elections Commission as per the rules and regulations. The party completes all the stages of the process, it said.

'If we come to know that a membership form submitted to this party is not real, or if anyone has requested to remove their names from our party registry, we remove their names accordingly,' the party said.

According to PPM, the forms submitted to register the family to Adhaalath listed an unregistered number as their contact number. The party contacted the witnesses listed on the form and found that the numbers were listed on the form at random.

'The fingerprints on the form and their fingerprints do not match. This is a big robbery by Adhaalath. PPM will take this matter to court,' the party said.
