Former EC member Akram heads STELCO sales centre

Former Vice President of the Election Commission Ahmed Akram has been appointed as the General Manager of STELCO's Sales Centre.

He was appointed to the post after applying for the vacancy and getting through the interview process. A STELCO official confirmed that Akram started working last week.

Akram holds a Masters in Business Management from a program conducted by a Maldivian college in collaboration with a British university.

Akram resigned from the Elections Commission in November 2020, while the Independent Institutions Committee of the Parliament investigated a disciplinary issue pertaining to Akram, and recommended the Parliament to remove him from office. Akram has joined STELCO while Ahmed Shareef, who was the President of the Election Commission during his tenure, took over as the Managing Director of STELCO.
