US donates over 100,000 Pfizer vaccine doses

The United States has donated more than 100,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine to the Maldives.

The donation of 100,620 vaccine doses was made through the UN's COVAX scheme, the global initiative aimed at equitable access to COVID-19 vaccines.

The US government has previously provided USD 7 million COVID-19 related aid to the Maldives through USAID. The United States has also donated 439,920 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and 60 ventilators.

According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 398,682 people have received the first dose of the vaccine in the Maldives. While 384,183 people have received the second dose, 160,911 people have received the booster dose.
