Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF)'s Coast Guard has detained a Sri Lankan fishing boat illegally fishing in Maldivian waters.
MNDF said it received reports of the boat from a local fishing boat. The foreign vessel was seized 76 miles east of M. Muli.
According to MNDF, six crew members were on board when the boat was detained. The Coast Guard has now taken the fishing boat to the military airport in L. Kadhdhoo.
Illegal fishing by Indian and Sri Lankan fishing vessels is common in Maldivian waters.
