India's External Affairs Minister calls on Pres Solih

The Minister of External Affairs of India, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, on Friday paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The meeting took place this afternoon at the Kigali Marriott Hotel in Rwanda.

The President and the Minister spoke about the bilateral relations between the two countries, emphasising their commitment to improve cooperation in areas of mutual interest and benefit. President Solih noted that the Maldives-India friendship is rooted in cultural and historical links as well as shared values. He also highlighted that strengthening foreign relations is a key priority of the administration.

President Solih acknowledged India's numerous contributions to the Maldives' development. The President and the Minister held broad discussions on various subjects and reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthen Maldives-India cooperation in the coming years.

The President is currently on an official visit to Rwanda to attend the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2022. First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high-level delegation are accompanying the President on this trip.
