Indian High Commission office building relocated to Hulhumale'

The Office of the Indian High Commission in the Maldives has been relocated to Hulhumale'.

The new office of the Indian High Commission was opened on Sunday at Lot No. 11499, No. 4, Hithigas Magu, Hulhumale'. All services previously provided at the High Commission's old office at H. Athireege'aage will now be available at the new building.

The office building of the Indian High Commission in the Maldives has been relocated to Hulhumale' while the Maldives government has allocated land for the construction of the Indian High Commission office in Hulhumale' Phase II. However, no building has been constructed on the land thus far.

The opposition has been calling for the withdrawal of Indian miliary personnel in the Maldives, and has been running a strong campaign for the purpose. The Indian High Commission has been operating under tight security measures for the past two years, with police patroling the building 24 hours a day.
