India appoints new High Commissioner to the Maldives

The Indian government has appointed Shri Gangadharan Balasubramanian as the next Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives.

Balasubramanian will replace Munu Mahawar, who took office in November 2021. Mahavar's term concludes this month.

Balasubramanian has been working in foreign service since 1998. He has previously served as Deputy Chief of Mission in Thailand and Russia and is currently the High Commissioner of India to Nigeria.

The Indian External Affairs Ministry said Balasubramanian is expected to arrive in the Maldives soon to assume his duties.
