The Indian External Affairs Ministry has confirmed that it is actively engaging with Maldivian authorities to address issues faced by Indian workers in the Maldives regarding salary remittance.

The External Affairs Ministry disclosed the information in a written response to a query by a member of the Lok Sabha, India's lower house of Parliament. The member clarified whether the Indian government was aware of the difficulties in remitting the salaries of Indians working in the Maldives, and asked for details of the steps taken to resolve the issue.

In its response, the Indian External Affairs Ministry said that the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) imposes a limit on the supply of dollars, causing difficulties in sending dollar remittances to all countries. However, those paid in dollars do not face the problem, the ministry noted. The Indian government has brought the remittance issues to the attention of the Maldivian government and the MMA, the minister confirmed.
