MTCC's Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service has been introduced in Shaviyani atoll. The atoll's first RTL ferry departed on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.
According to the Planning Ministry, ferry services will be operated in Shaviyani atoll on seven routes. The ferry service will begin officially once a one-week trial run is completed. No fares will be charged during the trial period.
The RTL ferry service was first launched in Haa Dhaal atoll. The service was later expanded to include Haa Alif atoll. Shaviyani atoll is the third atoll where RTL ferry services have been introduced.
RTL services include bus services. In this regard, bus services are already in operation in the capital, Male' City, Laamu atoll, Fuvahmulah City, and Addu City. MTCC is now gearing up to introduce minibus services in these areas.
