Kinbidhoo MP and Chair of the Parliament's Public Finance Committee, Mohamed Nashiz, has been appointed the Chair of the Commonwealth Association of Public Accounts (CAPAC).
Nashiz was appointed to the post at the CAPAC Annual Meeting, which began on Tuesday.
Nashiz has been the Vice Chair of CAPAC since last year until now. He has also chaired the committee that studied the state budget for the past three years.
CAPAC is participated by parliamentarians from 40 Commonwealth countries. The association was established to encourage member countries to make independent decisions on their finances and to make governments financially responsible. CAPAC provides technical assistance to the finance committees of its member countries, including the Maldives.
