Inflation rises by 0.15 percent

Inflation rose by 0.15 percent in July, statistics have shown.

According to inflation figures released by the National Bureau of Statistics, prices of goods rose by 0.15 percent in July. This is a lower percentage than June when prices rose by 0.45 percent.

In July, the largest increase in prices was seen in the prices of fish, meat, and dairy products.

The government has decided to increase GST and TGST despite a hike in commodity prices and inflation rate. The decision was taken to increase GST from six percent to eight percent and TGST from 12 percent to 16 percent from January next year. Experts believe that the increase in GST and TGST percentages will lead to a further rise in commodity prices and higher inflation.
