MIRA collects MVR 1.32 bln in August

The national tax agency, Maldives Inland Revenue Authority (MIRA) collected MVR 1.32 billion in August this year.

Statistics show that this number is an increase of MVR 46.7 million compared to the same period last year. MIRA collected MVR 1.28 million in August 2021.

The revenue collected by MIRA in August includes US$ 46.1 million. The revenue collection in August was 5.9 percent higher than the forecast.

GST accounted for the largest share of revenue collected by MIRA in August, accounting for 48.7 percent of the revenue at MVR 645.8 million. The second largest revenue source was income tax, accounting for 19.9 percent of the revenue at MVR 263.9 million. The next largest revenue came from green tax, accounting for 5.5 percent at MVR 73.1 million.

In the year 2021, MIRA received MVR 15.7 billion in revenue, an increase of MVR 5.2 billion compared to the 2020 revenue. In 2020, MIRA collected MVR 10.5 billion as revenue.

The total revenue collected by the MIRA from January to August this year stands at MVR 15.3 billion. That is an increase of MVR 5.8 billion compared to the same period last year.
