ACC questions Adeeb regarding MMPRC corruption

Former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb has been produced before the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for questioning.

Adeeb was produced before the ACC on Sunday. However, the commission has not made any comments regarding the matter.

The ACC is investigating several cases related to the MMPRC graft led by Adeeb. Millions in state funds were embezzled in the largest corruption scandal recorded in the Maldives and involved several high-profile figures, including former president Abdulla Yameen. The ACC's top priority is to recover state funds lost to the scandal. The commission does not know the exact figure lost to the scandal, although authorities estimate the state lost over MVR 3 billion generated through the lease of 37 islands and 12 lagoons.
