The Civil Service Commission (CSC) is seeking to appoint 42 Secretary Generals for local councils established under the Decentralization Act.
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) has been recruiting Secretaries Generals for councils since June last year. Eligible candidates are required to apply for the position before September 29.
While there are two ranks of Secretary Generals, the salary for the first rank is MVR 16,100. The salary for the second rank is MVR 12,285.
The decision to appoint secretaries generals to local councils followed last year's amendment of the Decentralization Act, which now states that the Civil Service Commission will appoint people to the post on the council's recommendation. One SG is appointed to each council for a term of five years.
