Criminal Court cancels online hearings due to water damage

The Criminal Court has canceled all video-conference hearings scheduled for Tuesday morning due to water damage to its server room following heavy rain.

The Criminal Court said in a statement that the rain had caused water to enter the court building and caused damages to electricity and network cables in its server room. As a result, all video-conference hearings scheduled for the morning had been canceled, the court confirmed. However, hearings scheduled to be conducted in court are ongoing as scheduled, they added.

The Criminal Court is currently located in the former STO Head Office building behind the traveler's market. The Criminal Court was moved to the current building in 2015, while the court was located in the Justice Building.

The building where the Criminal Court is currently located is very dilapidated. The walls are cracked, and water usually leaks from the ceiling on rainy days. However, the Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has not yet been given a new building to relocate the Criminal Court.
