First Lady Fazna Ahmed, on Wednesday night, met with the members of Fuvahmulah City's community social group, IBAMA.
During the meeting, members of IBAMA briefed the First Lady on their activities in Fuvamulah City and shared the challenges they faced in carrying out their work. They also highlighted the support they received from IBAMA's related institutions in the city.
The members of IBAMA stated that establishing such an organisation reduced the obstacles to resolving societal issues and that they now have clear directives and the capacity to find speedy solutions through collaboration.
Speaking at the meeting, the First Lady noted that IBAMA had given her hope and that she was grateful to see that many issues that could not previously be accomplished by individual authorities were now being accomplished through the institutions' collective effort.
The Minister of Gender, Family and Social Services, Aishath Mohamed Didi, and other senior officials of the Ministry and members of the Women's Development Committee (WDC) of Fuvahmulah City also attended the meeting.
IBAMA is responsible for identifying and providing social security and assistance to those in need, ensuring social security and working with all stakeholders to build a healthy community. Specialised teams carry out these responsibilities in islands and cities, excluding Malé City.
