The state has not received MVR 1 billion in TGST and Green Tax as of August this year, Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer has said.
The minister disclosed the amount of money not received in the form of TGST and Green Tax in a written response to an inquiry from Maafannu Central MP Ibrahim Rasheed.
Minister Ameer said the state is yet to receive MVR 634.09 million in TGST and MVR 240.34 in fines, totaling MVR 872.44 million. An additional MVR 85.49 million is owed to the state in Green Tax and MVR 42.92 million in penalties, giving a total of MVR 128.41 million, he said.
The minister also shared details of the revenue received by the state from individual islands in the form of GST, TGST, and green tax in recent years. He noted that the government received MVR 759.3 million in Green Tax from January to September this year, out of which MVR 77.7 was collected last month. Additionally, the state collected MVR 2.3 billion in general GST from January to September this year. In September, the state received MVR 2.3 billion as GST.
The government has collected MVR 5.1 billion from January to September this year in TGST and MVR 389.2 million in September.
