Tourist arrival numbers cross 1.27 mln

Over 1.27 million tourists have visited the Maldives thus far this year.

According to the Tourism Ministry, the tourists visited the country between January 1 and October 19. So far, in October alone, 88,611 tourists have visited the country, which is an increase compared to the same period in the past three years.

During the same period in 2021, 82,863 tourists visited the Maldives. The number was 12,010 in October 2020. Before the outbreak, 85,488 tourists arrived in the Maldives during the same period in October

Statistics show that an average of 4,664 tourists have visited the Maldives daily so far this month. While India is the leading source market with 180,255 arrivals, Russia follows behind with 155,490 tourists.

The Ministry of Finance's Fiscal Strategy Statement 2025-2023 estimates that 1,751,186 tourists will visit the Maldives this year in the best-case scenario. The ministry currently expects 1,625,648 tourists in moderate conditions and 1,486,772 under a worst-case scenario.
