The number of tourists visiting the Maldives this year has crossed 1.8 million.
According to the Tourism Ministry, the number of tourists visiting the Maldives so far this year increased by 9.2 percent over the same period last year. In 2023, the Maldives welcomed its 1.8 millionth tourist on December 20. This year, the milestone has been reached almost month earlier, reflecting the increase in tourist arrivals.
The Maldives hopes to welcome a record-breaking 2 million tourists by year-end.
So far this year, the Maldives has received 1.1 million tourists from the top 10 source markets, accounting for 64.8 percent of the total arrivals

The Maldives currently operates 1,242 tourist facilities, including 171 resorts, 902 guesthouses, 155 safari boats, and 14 hotels, with a combined capacity of 62,690 beds.
