The Maldives has achieved a historic milestone, welcoming its 2 millionth tourist for the year and achieving its arrival target for the year. This is the first time the Maldives has hosted 2 million tourists in a single year.
The 2 millionth tourist, an Austrian national, was welcomed grandly at Velana International Airport (VIA) by Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal, Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC)’s Ibrahim Shiury, and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL)’s Managing Director Ibrahim Shareef as well as Immigration officials.
The Tourism Ministry’s statistics show the current arrival numbers are nine percent more than the previous year.
