Kuwait Airways resumes operation to the Maldives

Kuwait's national airline, Kuwait Airways, has resumed flights to the Maldives.

Kuwait Airways suspended flights to the Maldives due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The airline's flights to the Maldives resumed on Monday. Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom and officials from Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) welcomed the flight upon its arrival at Velana International Airport (VIA). The airline will operate two flights a week to VIA.

In addition to Kuwait Airways, several other Middle Eastern airlines also operate to the Maldives. The Maldives government expects the number of tourist arrivals from the region to increase with the launch of Kuwait Airlines.

Kuwait is one of the top source markets in the Middle East for Maldivian tourism. As of the end of October, 6,309 tourists visited the Maldives from Kuwait, compared to 3,164 in the same period last year.
