Gifts should not be accepted by judges, JSC reminds

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has instructed judges to hand over any gifts they receive to the courts.

In a circular issued by the JSC, judges have been asked not to accept gifts and to hand over any gifts to the courts. Referring to the Code of Conduct for Judges, the circular said that judges should not accept anything that could constitute a bribe.

The circular also asked the judges to hand over gifts sent by diplomatic missions and organizations to mark various occasions. It also reminded that action will be taken against judges who violate the code of conduct.
