Judicial Advisory Board to be formed to strengthen court administration

The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to establish a new nine-member Judicial Advisory Board aimed at enhancing the administrative management of the courts.

According to the JSC, the formation of this board is aimed at increasing judges' participation in developing policies for the administrative functioning of the courts, and ensuring transparency and consultation in the formulation of judicial administration policies.

The board will be comprised of the Chief Justice, the President of the JSC, the Chief Judge of the High Court, judge representing the Supreme Court in the JSC, judge representing the High Court in the JSC, judge representing lower courts in JSC, a judge appointed by the Chief Justice from among the Chief Justices of the Superior Courts, a judge appointed by the Chief Justice from among the magistrates of the magistrate courts, and the Chief Judicial Administrator.

The JSC said the appointments of the Chief Justices of the Superior Courts and the Magistrates Courts will rotate annually.
