Parliament Speaker and the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party's President, Mohamed Nasheed, visited GDh. Thinadhoo on Friday.
President Nasheed arrived in Thinadhoo on Friday evening. He received a warm welcome from the island council members and his supporters.
According to some Thinadhoo residents, President Nasheed arrived in Thinadhoo for the closing ceremony of a program conducted by Umet Scuba. During his visit, Nasheed is scheduled to meet with his supporters.
Nasheed has traveled to Thinadhoo after media reports last week said that he is preparing to contest the MDP presidential primary and launch his campaign in Thinadhoo. The MDP and the Parliamentary Office have not commented on the visit.
The President is scheduled to return to Male' City on Saturday.
