Maldives participates in WTTC Int'l Summit

The Maldives is participating in the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) International Summit held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The summit was attended by the Tourism Minister, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom. Day one of the summit focused on the Global Leaders Dialogue, which was attended by tourism leaders from various countries.

The dialogue, moderated by CBS News Travel Editor Peter Greenberg, was opened by the Tourism Minister of Saudi Arabia, the CEO and President of the WTTC Council, and the Secretary-General of the UNWTO. Dr. Mausoom shared information on tourism in the Maldives at the dialogue.

The International Summit 2022 included discussion meetings, lectures, and panel discussions. The panel discussions were divided into four main sections. They are tourism as a solution for the planet, travel as a solution for enhanced livelihoods, travel as an enabler through technology and innovation, and building a future together.

During the summit, various speeches on the summit's theme were delivered by international political leaders and heads of global companies.

During the summit, the Maldives Tourism Minister met with his counterparts from other countries, international tourism-related organizations, and company officials. Minister Mausoom was accompanied by the Maldives' Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Khaleel, Tourism Ministry's Permanent Secretary Fathimath Nilfa, Senior Executive Director Tayyib Shaheem, and Legal Officer Aminath Shiuna Basheer.
