Maldives becomes a signatory to UNWTO's International Code for the Protection of Tourists

The Maldives has become a signatory to UNWTO's International Code for the Protection of Tourists.

The International Code for the Protection of Tourists is the first ever legal instrument designed to create internationally recognized standards for the protection of tourists at the international level. The Code was created by UNWTO and was formally adopted at the 24th UNWTO General Assembly in December 2021.

The agreement was signed on behalf of the Maldives by Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom during his ongoing visit to Cambodia. He traveled to Cambodia to attend the UNWTO Conference.

The Maldives is popular all over the world as a peaceful, safe, and beautiful tourist destination. According to the Tourism Ministry, 861,167 tourists visited the Maldives as of the 14th of this month. Of these, 555,730 were from the top 10 countries in the market.
