Akram elected MDP's Upper North President by large margin

Akram Kamaluddin has been elected as the main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s Upper North Province President.

Planning Ministry's State Minister, Akram, won the election by a huge margin against two other candidates. Akram received 2,988 votes in the election, while his opponents, Health Ministry's State Minister Ahmed Adil, received 850 votes and Heritage Ministry's Senior Policy Director Ahmed Hashim (Tintin) received 291 votes.

The MDP's Upper North Province includes Haa Alif, Haa Dhaalu, and Shaviyani atoll.
